Description - Deciduous, erect crown, spreading. In a class of it’s own, the Ostrich produces a vase-shaped clump of fronds from a stout & erect rhizome. The fronds create a plume like appearance. It is spreading and can create a beautiful effect. Occurs in wooded river bottomlands & swamps.  It is tolerant of full sun, but does need moisture. Part shade is best for color. It resembles a tree fern as it sheds its fronds, and the crown extends upward giving a trunk effect. A must for every fern lover. Easy
